NEW AMSTERDAM, Berbice — September 21, 2026
The Ministry of Health has handed over three new vehicles to boost health care delivery in Region Nine (Upper Takutu-Upper Essequibo) and Region Ten (Upper Demerara-Berbice).
Health Minister Dr. Frank Anthony handed over two of the vehicles to Region Nine and one to Region Ten.
The vehicles will be used by regional health services to transport health care workers, medical supplies and equipment, and to support outreach activities in communities.
Minister Anthony stressed the importance of ensuring that health teams, particularly those serving hinterland and remote communities, have the resources they need to carry out their duties effectively.
The Ministry of Health says the new vehicles will enhance the regions' ability to respond to residents' health care needs while improving the reach and efficiency of health services.
The handover forms part of the ministry's continued investment in transportation capacity, health infrastructure and human resources, aimed at providing accessible and reliable health care services to communities across Guyana.
