Public Works Minister Engages Eccles Stakeholders on Industrial Road Rehabilitation

The Ministry of Public Works has taken another step toward improving one of Guyana’s key industrial corridors, with Minister Bishop Juan Edghill meeting residents, business owners and other stakeholders from the Eccles industrial site to discuss the continuation of rehabilitation work.

The consultation focused on the next phase of the project, which will be carried out by the Ministry’s Special Projects Unit. The initiative follows a commitment made by President Dr Irfaan Ali to address the longstanding deterioration of the roadway, which has affected motorists, commercial transport operators and businesses operating within the industrial zone.

The Minister noted that consultation before, during and after construction helps reduce disruption, address local concerns and ensure projects effectively meet the needs of the communities they serve. He encouraged stakeholders to participate actively throughout the rehabilitation process by providing feedback and exercising civic oversight to help ensure the works are completed efficiently and to the highest standard.

Officials say the collaborative approach reflects a broader commitment to delivering quality infrastructure while strengthening partnerships between public agencies, residents and the business community. Once completed, the upgraded roadway is expected to improve traffic flow, enhance safety and support economic activity within the Eccles industrial site.
