More than 30,000 people gathered at the Guyana National Stadium for the One Guyana Worship Experience, a free national gospel concert held as part of the country’s Diamond Jubilee 60th Independence and CARICOM Day celebrations.
The event, which began at 6 p.m., was organised with the support of the government and local Christian communities, and brought together worshippers from various denominations, cultures and communities for an evening centred on worship, prayer and unity.
The programme opened with remarks from Minister of Public Works Bishop Juan Edghill, who welcomed those in attendance and highlighted the importance of faith, unity and collective responsibility in shaping Guyana’s future. The event was coordinated by Minister Susan Rodrigues, who delivered a brief address on the significance of the gathering and the role of faith, togetherness and shared values in uniting citizens as Guyana marks 60 years of independence.
Throughout the evening, worshippers were treated to performances from several of Guyana’s leading gospel ministers, joined by a celebrated gospel artist from Trinidad and Tobago and internationally recognised worship leaders. The programme also featured choir presentations, scripture readings and prayers led by pastors and ministers from churches across Guyana, who prayed for the nation, its leaders, families and future.
More than a concert, the One Guyana Worship Experience was an expression of national togetherness, hope and gratitude, uniting families and friends from across the country in an evening celebrating faith and community.
