NEW AMSTERDAM, Berbice — September 30, 2026
Employees of Sterling Products Limited are to receive salary increases of eight percent for 2026 and eight and a half percent for 2027, following new wage agreements signed with the Clerical and Commercial Workers' Union.
The agreements were signed at the Ministry of Labour in September and take effect from January 1, 2026. They cover fortnightly, monthly and supervisory employees of the company.
Under the new deal, minimum wage will be set at $54,000 fortnightly and $117,000 monthly for covered workers. Eligible supervisory employees will receive a minimum of $172,800 monthly.
Sales supervisors are excluded from the supervisory minimum wage rate since their earnings are based on commissions and incentives rather than a fixed salary.
The agreements also provide for employee performance evaluations at least once a year, with half-yearly assessments carried out where applicable.
Further adjustments to pay may also be made in line with any future changes to private sector minimum wages and salaries across the country.
Officials say the new agreements build on the long-standing industrial relationship between Sterling Products Limited and the union, which dates back to 1975, while formalising improvements in remuneration and employment conditions for workers.
