Prime Minister Engages Region One Residents on Development Priorities

YARITA, REGION ONE — On Wednesday, August 5, 2026, Prime Minister Brigadier (Ret’d) Mark Phillips met with residents of Yarita in the Mabaruma sub-district, Region One, as part of the Government of Guyana’s continued outreach to communities across the country.

The visit formed part of the administration’s ongoing effort to strengthen engagement with citizens while ensuring that development initiatives reflect the needs and priorities of local communities.

Joining the Prime Minister was Member of Parliament and Guyana’s Chief Investment Officer, Dr. Peter Ramsaroop. Together, they provided residents with an update on the Government’s current development agenda, highlighting investments aimed at improving infrastructure, expanding public services and enhancing economic opportunities in hinterland communities.

During the community meeting, residents were given the opportunity to raise issues directly with government officials. Prime Minister Phillips listened to concerns ranging from local development needs to public services, reaffirming the Government’s commitment to maintaining an open dialogue with communities across the country.

Officials from the Office of the Prime Minister documented the concerns raised during the engagement. Those matters will now be assessed and referred to the relevant government agencies for follow-up and implementation where necessary.

The outreach underscores the Government’s commitment to ensuring that residents — particularly those in remote and hinterland regions — remain actively involved in the country’s development process while receiving updates on national initiatives that directly impact their communities.
