NEW AMSTERDAM, Berbice — September 17, 2026
Persons allocated residential lots at Great Diamond Block 7, East Bank Demerara, have started identifying their respective plots following months of delay in infrastructure works.
The delays were caused in part by delinquent contractors, forcing the Ministry of Housing and the Central Housing and Planning Authority to terminate the services of some firms that failed to meet their contractual obligations.
Minister within the Ministry of Housing Collin Croal was on the ground during the lot identification exercise, interacting with allottees and observing the process.
The minister expressed appreciation for the patience shown by allottees throughout the delays and reaffirmed the ministry's commitment to completing the remaining infrastructure works so beneficiaries can begin constructing their homes.
Persons allocated lots within parcels 5094 to 5170 will be able to identify their plots soon. Surveyors are currently awaiting the completion of land levelling works before proceeding with the exercise in that section.
A total of 496 persons have been allocated residential lots at Great Diamond Block 7. The identification exercise is being carried out in phases as sections of the development become ready.
