NEW AMSTERDAM, Berbice — October 13, 2026
Farmers, agricultural stakeholders, technical experts and industry representatives are taking part in a Farmers' Conference hosted by the Ministry of Agriculture at the Archer Chong Conference Center.
The conference, which continued this week, is focused on strengthening agricultural production, improving market access and increasing the competitiveness of farmers across Guyana.
Participants are engaging in interactive breakout sessions designed to encourage dialogue, knowledge sharing and the development of practical solutions to challenges affecting the sector.
Discussions at the conference are centred on modernising livestock production, expanding agro processing opportunities, improving access to markets and strengthening food systems.
Attendees are also examining ways to improve productivity, promote sustainable farming practices and increase profitability for farmers.
The sessions are giving farmers an opportunity to share their experiences, highlight challenges and contribute recommendations that could help shape the future direction of the country's agriculture industry.
Organisers say the exchange of ideas is expected to support stronger collaboration among farmers, policy makers and industry professionals, while helping to identify innovative approaches to improve agricultural output and competitiveness.
As Guyana continues to pursue greater food security and expand its agricultural potential, the conference is serving as a platform for stakeholders to contribute to the development of a more productive, resilient and sustainable agricultural sector.
