NEW AMSTERDAM, Berbice — October 13, 2026
Dr. Frank Anthony joined the Guyana Responsible Parenthood Association (GRPA) for its inaugural Pinktober brunch on Sunday, an event held to raise funds for the organization's ongoing cancer screening work.
Speaking to participants at the fundraiser, Dr. Anthony said early screening and early diagnosis remain among the most powerful tools in the fight against cancer.
He noted that too many cancers are still being detected late, when treatment becomes far more difficult, but said this trend can be reversed through awareness and action.
Dr. Anthony told attendees to know their risk, get screened, and encourage family and friends to do the same, adding that everyone has a role to play in bringing the message of early detection to every community.
He congratulated the GRPA on the initiative and commended the organization for continuing to expand access to cancer screening services.
Dr. Anthony reiterated that early detection leads to early treatment, which in turn saves lives.
