US Frame Factory opens Guyana warehouse, backs 40,000-home housing push

NEW AMSTERDAM, Berbice — October 15, 2026

US Frame Factory held a ribbon cutting ceremony at its warehouse on Wednesday, unveiling steel frame construction technology aimed at low-income households.

Housing Minister Collin Croal, CH&PA's chief executive officer, and United States Ambassador to Guyana Nicole Theriot were on hand, along with engineers, contractors and private sector stakeholders.

Minister Croal said housing remains one of the most critical pillars of national development, noting President Dr. Irfaan Ali's target of 40,000 homes by 2030.

He said the focus must be on how homes are built, not just how many, adding that steel framing, modular and prefab construction can cut building time, improve quality control and deliver more climate resilient, energy efficient houses.

According to the minister, the entry of US Frame Factory allows modern manufacturing methods to complement traditional construction. He said beyond the technology, the real win for Guyana lies in new jobs, skills training, stronger local contractors and new markets for suppliers.

Minister Croal also described the investment as a tangible result of cooperation between Guyana and the United States.

Attendees were taken on a tour of a steel frame home designed for the low-income bracket, along with a three-storey structure built using the company's system.

There is more in the pipeline. Golden Shield Homes is eyeing a manufacturing and training facility in Guyana capable of producing components for 10,000 homes.
