Minister Persaud Highlights Women’s Economic Rights at Inter-American Meeting

Minister of Human Services and Social Security, Dr Vindhya Persaud, attended the 40th Assembly of Delegates of the Inter-American Commission of Women, held in Washington, DC.

During the meeting the Minister spoke about the importance of improving economic opportunities and support systems for women across the hemisphere.

Discussions centred on several key areas, including jobs and business opportunities for women, financial support and access to credit, and greater digital inclusion.

Representatives and officials from a number of countries took part in the sessions, sharing experiences and discussing ways to strengthen women’s rights and opportunities.

The event also allowed leaders and members of civil society to exchange views on the issues affecting women and families across the region.

Minister Persaud highlighted the need to continue supporting women through education, employment and equal opportunity.

The Assembly brought together ministers and senior officials from across the Americas as countries continue working together to advance women’s rights and development.
