Investigators believe a pensioner was beaten to death inside his own home sometime between 16 May and the day his body was discovered.
A post-mortem examination revealed that the man died as a result of brain haemorrhage caused by multiple blunt force injuries to the head.
Police say the findings prompted an extensive investigation, during which ranks carried out an intelligence-led operation and used available technology to identify several persons of interest connected to the case.
As the investigation progressed, a 19-year-old construction worker of Parker Street, Providence, East Bank Demerara, and a 22-year-old porter of Back Street, Peter Hall, East Bank Demerara, were arrested on Monday 25 May 2026 and taken into custody.
Investigators later detained a third suspect on Tuesday 26 May 2026, a 17-year-old male also of Parker Street, Providence.
According to police reports, the pensioner was last seen alive around 9 p.m. on 16 May. Concern grew among relatives after repeated calls to his phone went unanswered for several days.
On 19 May, family members visited his residence, where they made the grim discovery of his body inside the house in an advanced state of decomposition. Police noted that there were no visible signs of forced entry at the property.
Detectives are continuing to examine the evidence gathered so far. The investigation remains ongoing.
