Families Strengthen Bonds Through Mural Activity at Yakusari Youth Friendly Space

Family mural activity at Yakusari Youth Friendly Space

Children and their families at the Yakusari Youth Friendly Space recently took part in a mural painting activity designed to promote unity, communication and togetherness within the family.

The colourful mural, created through a collaborative effort, highlighted the importance of strong family bonds and positive relationships. Participants worked side by side, using art as a way to express love, support and connection within the home.

The activity forms part of the nationwide observance of Family Month 2026, led by the Family Enhancement Services section of the Ministry of Human Services and Social Security.

This year’s observance is being held under the theme “Repair, Build, Strengthen”, encouraging families across Guyana to reflect on the value of stability, understanding and mutual support.

Officials say initiatives such as these create safe spaces for families to connect, communicate and build healthier relationships, while supporting emotional well-being among children and parents alike.

The Ministry is continuing to encourage citizens to take part in activities throughout the month that promote family unity and positive development.
