Government Takes Cabinet Outreach to Region One Communities

RED HILL, REGION ONE — As part of the Government’s ongoing cabinet outreach to Region One, Senior Minister in the Office of the President with responsibility for Finance, Hon. Dr. Ashni Singh, met with residents of Red Hill on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, as officials continued efforts to strengthen engagement with communities across the region.

The outreach, led by President Dr. Mohamed Irfaan Ali, is aimed at bringing government officials closer to citizens while giving residents the opportunity to speak directly with ministers and senior officials about the issues affecting their communities.

During the engagement, residents were invited to raise concerns, discuss community development priorities, and seek immediate assistance from the government representatives present. Several matters were addressed on the spot, while others were documented for follow-up by the relevant ministries and agencies.

Speaking with residents, Minister Singh reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to ensuring that every community — particularly those in Guyana’s hinterland regions — has access to essential services and opportunities for development. He emphasised that the outreach programme allows the Government to better understand the needs of citizens while improving the delivery of public services.

Accompanying the Finance Minister was Member of Parliament Alister Charlie, technical staff from the Ministry of Finance, and several key regional officials. Together, they engaged residents to listen to concerns and discuss solutions to issues affecting the community.

The cabinet outreach initiative has seen ministers and government officials visiting several communities throughout Region One, meeting directly with residents to address matters related to infrastructure, education, healthcare, housing, public services, and other areas of national development.

According to the Government, these engagements remain an important part of the administration’s commitment to responsive governance — ensuring that citizens have direct access to decision-makers and that concerns raised at the community level receive timely attention.

Additional cabinet outreach activities are expected to continue in communities across the region as the Government works to strengthen public engagement and improve service delivery nationwide.
