LRTVS NewsWatch believes readers are entitled to know who owns the news they are reading and how it is paid for. This page sets that out.
Publisher
LRTVS NewsWatch is published by Little Rock Television Station Inc., a company incorporated in Guyana and operating from Berbice. The station broadcasts on Channels 10 and 16 under licences issued by the Guyana National Broadcasting Authority (GNBA).
Affiliated broadcaster
Little Rock Radio Station Inc. operates 88.5 FM under separate GNBA licence and shares common ownership with Little Rock Television Station Inc.
Ownership
Little Rock Television Station Inc. and Little Rock Radio Station Inc. are privately held under the Little Rock group of companies. The chief executive is Naomi Christie. The companies are not owned or controlled, in whole or in part, by any political party, political organisation, or foreign government, and receive no funding from any political party.
How we are funded
LRTVS NewsWatch is funded by the commercial revenue of Little Rock Television Station Inc. — principally the sale of advertising and sponsorship on Channels 10 and 16, on 88.5 FM and on this website. We do not charge readers for access to our journalism.
Where the station carries government advertising or paid public-information announcements, those are commercial transactions on our published rates and carry no editorial condition of any kind.
Editorial independence from ownership
Editorial decisions — what we cover, what we say and when we publish — are made by the newsroom. The chief executive and the commercial side of the company do not approve, review or veto news reports before publication.
Related-company disclosure
The Little Rock group includes businesses outside broadcasting. LRTVS NewsWatch does not treat any company under common ownership as an independent news source, and does not publish coverage that promotes an affiliated business. Where a story unavoidably concerns an affiliated company, the common ownership is disclosed within the story itself so readers can weigh it.
