Agriculture Ministry moves to sharpen service delivery to Region One farmers

MABARUMA, Region One. Agriculture Minister Zulfikar Mustapha met the ministry’s regional staff on Wednesday to review progress in the sector and to press for better delivery of services to farmers across Region One.

The meeting, held in the boardroom of the Regional Democratic Council, centred on what the ministry is doing in the region and how its officers reach the people they serve. Mr Mustapha told staff to stay close to farmers, respond to their needs, and make sure every farmer can get the technical help, information and other services the ministry offers.

Regional officers, he said, are the front line of agriculture, and he wants closer collaboration with farmers so that no one in Region One is cut off from the ministry’s support.

He announced that staff will be given access to further advanced training to build their technical capacity, and that additional resources will be provided so officers can do their work properly and improve delivery throughout the region.

The minister restated the ministry’s commitment to strengthening agricultural development in Region One and to giving its farming communities more support.
