Agriculture Minister Zulfikar Mustapha met the ministry's regional staff in Region One on September 9 to discuss advances in the agriculture sector and how services reach farmers.
The meeting was held in the Regional Democratic Council boardroom. Discussions focused on ongoing developments in the sector and on improving the delivery of services to farmers across the region.
Minister Mustapha encouraged the officers to work closely with farmers and to remain responsive to their needs. He stressed that farmers must have access to the technical support, information and other services the ministry offers.
"Our regional staff are on the front line of agriculture. I want to see closer collaboration with farmers and ensure that every farmer in Region One has access to the ministry's services and technical support," the minister said.
He also announced that additional opportunities for advanced training will be made available to staff, to further strengthen their technical capacity.
The minister said more resources will be provided to support officers in carrying out their duties effectively. This, he said, is aimed at improving the ministry's service delivery across Region One.
Minister Mustapha reaffirmed the ministry's commitment to strengthening agricultural development and enhancing support for farming communities in the region.
The engagement with regional staff forms part of the ministry's wider effort to ensure that farmers in Region One receive the support they need to keep their operations productive.
