The Guyana Online Academy of Learning, better known as GOAL, held its fourth graduation ceremony this week, with Prime Minister Brigadier (Ret’d) Mark Phillips delivering the keynote address on how national connectivity has opened doors for thousands of Guyanese.
The Prime Minister said that between 2020 and 2025 every community across the country, on the coastland and in the hinterland, was connected to the internet. He explained that this was no easy task, recalling visits to remote villages where internet access was once entirely out of reach.
Today, he said, thanks to Starlink devices and the Government’s connectivity programme, all 253 indigenous villages now have high-speed internet, benefiting more than 135,000 residents.
Prime Minister Phillips said that access has made GOAL possible in every community, allowing people to study without leaving their villages. He added that education remains at the heart of national development, calling it the catalyst for opportunity.
For many graduates the moment marks not just personal success but proof that distance is no longer a barrier to learning. With connectivity now reaching every corner of Guyana, the Government says education will continue to drive growth and opportunity for all. The report was filed for LRTVS Newswatch.
