NEW AMSTERDAM, Berbice — October 12, 2026
Female employees of the Ministry of Labour and Manpower Planning took part in a breast cancer seminar and screening session held at the ministry, in the presence of Permanent Secretary Indranie Ramairne.
The session was led by Dr. Latoya Gooding, managing director of Ultra Care Medical Centre Incorporated, along with her team.
Discussions centred on risk factors, warning signs, prevention, early detection and the importance of regular screening.
Employees also benefited from breast ultrasounds, blood testing and other screening services offered during the session.
According to the ministry, the exercise was more than an education drive. It served as a reminder for staff to listen to their bodies, prioritise their health and never delay getting checked.
The ministry extended thanks to Dr. Gooding and the Ultra Care Medical Centre team for helping to make health awareness and early detection a priority among its staff.
The ministry noted that behind every statistic is a person, a family and a story, adding that during Breast Cancer Awareness Month, every story is unique and every journey matters.
