Ten Guyanese receive appliances to boost small businesses

NEW AMSTERDAM, Berbice — October 13, 2026

Ten individuals have received appliances to help establish or expand their small businesses under the Ministry of Human Services and Social Security's Start Up Strong initiative.

The initiative is implemented through the ministry's Difficult Circumstance Unit and is aimed at empowering Guyanese with the resources needed to turn their business ideas into sustainable sources of income.

The Ministry of Human Services and Social Security continues to champion economic empowerment by supporting individuals as they work towards becoming financially independent through the provision of essential appliances.

Officials say beneficiaries are now better positioned to develop their businesses, strengthen their earning potential and improve their livelihoods.

The initiative forms part of the ministry's broader efforts to promote self-reliance, encourage entrepreneurship, and provide practical assistance to persons seeking to improve their circumstances.

Beyond the distribution of equipment, Start Up Strong is intended to create opportunities for personal growth and long term financial stability.

As the programme continues, the ministry says it is reinforcing its commitment to helping Guyanese build sustainable livelihoods and work towards a more secure future.
