International Day of Play Observed in Region Two

The International Day of Play was observed in Region Two on Friday at the Imam Bacchus Play Park, with the participation of Minister of Human Services and Social Security Dr Vindhya Persaud. This year’s observance was held under the theme “Protect Play, Protect Childhood.”

The event focused on the important role that play has in a child’s development and overall well-being. Officials highlighted how play helps children build important skills, encourages creativity, supports learning and promotes positive interaction with others.

Activities throughout the day also served as a reminder that children need safe and supportive spaces where they can play, learn and grow. The observance brought attention to the value of both educational and recreational activities in helping children reach their full potential.

The Ministry of Human Services and Social Security says creating safe environments for children remains a priority, as play continues to be a key part of healthy childhood development. The report was filed for LRTVS Newswatch.
