Housing Minister hears Falls Top residents’ concerns in Region One

NEW AMSTERDAM, Berbice — October 19, 2026

Residents of Falls Top, Region One, raised a number of concerns affecting their daily lives during an engagement with Minister of Housing Collin Croal on Sunday.

Among the issues raised were poor road conditions, limited access to clean water and the effect of mining activities on water quality in the area.

Minister Croal assured residents that their concerns would be addressed through collaboration with relevant ministries and agencies on road conditions.

He said the concerns raised would be documented and forwarded to the Ministry of Public Works for consideration.

The engagement also touched on targeted housing assistance for vulnerable residents. A committee is to be established to identify those in need, with support to be channelled through the Ministry of Amerindian Affairs.

Residents were further informed that a containerized police outpost is ready to be transported to the region during the week.

The engagement forms part of ongoing efforts to address community concerns and improve living conditions in Guyana's hinterland communities.
