NEW AMSTERDAM, Berbice — September 7, 2026
A new commander has officially taken charge of the Guyana Police Force's Region Six Division. Mr. Kevin Das assumed duties as regional commander on Friday.
He takes over following the departure of the division's previous commander, who held the post for more than five years.
Earlier this week, the outgoing commander announced that he would be proceeding on leave. During that period, the deputy commander was expected to temporarily oversee the affairs of the division.
However, with Mr. Das now officially in the position, he will take responsibility for policing operations across Region Six (East Berbice-Corentyne).
Mr. Das is not new to the Force's command structure. Before this appointment, he served in several capacities within Region Four. Most recently, he held the position of deputy commander of Region Three.
His appointment comes as the Guyana Police Force continues its effort to strengthen law enforcement and maintain public safety across the various regions.
As the new commander settles in, attention will now turn to his priorities for Region Six and the policing strategies he will implement during his tenure.
