PORT KAITUMA, Region One. Minister of Housing and Water and Parliamentary Representative for Region One Collin Croal spent Saturday with survivors and bereaved families of the MV Barima tragedy, visiting homes in Citrus Grove, Canal Bank and Arakaka.
He was accompanied by the Prime Minister’s representative in the region, Margaret Lambert, together with the community development officer and the deputy district officer.
“Government remains committed to standing with the families and survivors during this difficult time and ensuring they continue to receive the necessary support,” Minister Croal said.
The visit forms part of the government’s continuing engagement with those affected by the incident of 18 July. Officials used the time to listen to residents’ concerns and to assure them that support arrangements remain in place as the communities recover.
The government says it will continue to work closely with regional officials and community leaders to assist the families affected.
