NEW AMSTERDAM, Berbice — October 15, 2026
The Ministry of Health has expanded free public dialysis services to six regional hospitals across Guyana, giving kidney patients treatment options closer to home.
The participating facilities are Leonora Regional Hospital, Diamond Regional Hospital, Bath Regional Hospital, the No. 75 facility, De Kinderen Regional Hospital and Enmore Regional Hospital.
According to the ministry, the expansion is part of continuing efforts to make critical kidney care more accessible and equitable for patients across the country.
The ministry said the move means more than improved access to the service itself. It added that patients and their families will benefit from reduced travel burdens and greater convenience when seeking treatment.
Officials are encouraging persons who require dialysis to visit any of the six facilities to access the service and to schedule their treatment sessions.
The ministry maintains that quality health care should be accessible, affordable and available closer to every community in Guyana.
