Home affairs Minister makes unannounced visits to key GPF units

NEW AMSTERDAM, Berbice — September 29, 2026

Minister of Home Affairs Oneidge Walrond on Monday conducted unannounced visits to the Guyana Police Force Training Academy, the Criminal Record Office and the Police Credit Union.

During the visits, Minister Walrond observed ranks and administrative staff at work and reviewed the processes in place within each unit.

She engaged personally with staff on their duties, the operational challenges they face, and possible changes that could improve efficiency and service delivery.

The minister was accompanied by Deputy Commissioner of Police Operations Errol Watts along with senior officials from the GPF Training Academy.

According to the Department of Public Information, the visits formed part of the Ministry of Home Affairs' ongoing efforts to maintain direct engagement with police ranks and to assess the performance of key departments within the force.

The initiative is centred on strengthening efficiency, accountability and the quality of service provided to citizens by the Guyana Police Force.
