Human services ministry launches digital system to upgrade client records

NEW AMSTERDAM, Berbice — October 21, 2026

Minister of Human Services and Social Security Dr. Vindhya Persaud attended a training session on Tuesday morning for officers on the new Guyana Social Services System, known as GSS.

The GSS is a digital platform designed to improve how the Ministry of Human Services and Social Security collects, manages and updates client information.

Officials said the system will ensure that every benefit a client receives is properly recorded, that personal information stays accurate and up to date, and that officers across departments can access relevant details to better understand each client's needs.

Through the GSS, departments within the ministry will also be able to share information more efficiently, cutting down on duplication and making it easier to provide the right support to clients.

Officials described the rollout as another step towards making the ministry's service more efficient, transparent and accountable.

The training session formed part of ongoing efforts to equip officers with the skills needed to operate the new system as it is integrated into the ministry's daily work.
