GEORGETOWN, Guyana. The Amerindian Heritage Month art exhibition was officially opened at Castellani House by Minister of Amerindian Affairs Sarah Browne-Shadick, MP.
Also present were ministerial advisors, Alister Charlie, MP, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Amerindian Affairs Ryan Toolsie, and ministry planner Miriam Andrew.
Opening the exhibition, the Minister said it highlights the rich heritage, talent and diversity of Guyana’s first peoples, and is a reminder of the important part art plays in preserving culture.
The exhibition brings together work by Indigenous artists from across the country and runs for the whole of September. The public is invited to visit during the working hours of the National Gallery of Art.
The ministry says the exhibition forms part of a programme of activities marking Amerindian Heritage Month and celebrating the contribution of Indigenous people to national development.
