GEORGETOWN — The Ministry of Human Services and Social Security says its Gender Equality and Empowerment Seal programme is delivering measurable results across six private sector companies, more than six months after implementation began.
The programme, launched in 2025 by Minister of Human Services and Social Security Dr Vindhya Persaud, is designed to help companies build workplaces that are more inclusive, equitable and responsive to the needs of all employees.
Participating companies each underwent a preliminary assessment before receiving a tailored work plan to guide them toward the standards required for accreditation under the national seal.
The initiative is being implemented in collaboration with the United Nations Population Fund, with technical support from ministry officials and programme facilitators.
According to the ministry, participating companies have strengthened workplace policies, improved working conditions, and introduced measures that better support employees with caregiving responsibilities, while promoting equal opportunities for career growth.
The programme also encourages businesses to adopt policies that address gender-based discrimination, ensure equal pay for equal work, and maintain workplaces free from sexual exploitation and harassment.
