NEW AMSTERDAM, Berbice — October 13, 2026
The Ministry of Health has renewed its memorandum of understanding with Northwell Health, reaffirming a partnership aimed at strengthening Guyana's health care system.
The renewed agreement will deepen collaboration in medical and nursing education, emergency medical services, specialised clinical training, capacity building and knowledge exchange.
The move comes as Guyana rapidly modernises its health infrastructure, with new hospital technology and expanded services being rolled out across the country.
The ministry says the partnership is designed to ensure the health care workforce advances alongside this modernisation, with the focus placed squarely on people.
Doctors, nurses, emergency medical personnel and other health care professionals are expected to benefit from world class training that will build new skills and open up further opportunities.
Officials say the goal is better training and stronger teams, which in turn should lead to higher standards of care.
The investment is intended to deliver better health care for every Guyanese, according to the ministry.
