MOBLISSA — A modern dairy operation at Moblissa is being highlighted as an example of Guyana’s continued agricultural modernisation, showcasing advanced technology and farming practices aimed at strengthening local food production.
The facility features a large-scale modern housing system for dairy cattle, designed to provide a more controlled and efficient environment for the animals while supporting improved herd management and milk production.
According to the Ministry of Agriculture, investments of this kind are contributing to the diversification of Guyana’s economy while increasing the country’s capacity to produce food locally.
The operation incorporates structured feeding systems, improved cattle management and purpose-built facilities, with the aim of increasing productivity while building a more sustainable and commercially viable dairy industry.
Expanded domestic milk production carries implications for food security. Greater local production can reduce dependence on imported dairy products, strengthen the domestic agricultural supply chain, and give consumers more locally produced options.
