GUYANA — A grieving mother is remembering her son — an assistant horse-racing trainer — who died following a road accident, describing him as a loving son who was well loved by everyone who knew him.
She recalled that her son had worked with horses from the age of 14, spending years at racing stables, including the Jumbo and Bola stables. He later spent about five years working on the island before returning home roughly a year and a half ago to continue his work with the Jumbo stable.
On the day of the accident, she said, she was at home washing clothes when her daughter ran to tell her that her son had been involved in a crash. He was rushed for emergency surgery, which doctors described as a 50-50 chance. In the operation, one of his kidneys was removed; he had also suffered several broken ribs and injuries to his lungs.
The mother said their last conversation had been the Saturday afternoon before the tragedy.
Through her grief, she remembered him simply as a loving son — “a loving boy of the people.”
